Environmentally Friendly Surface Design Workshop |
September 25, 26, 27, 2009 |
Three days of intensive hands-on experience with a broad range of surface design techniques including fabric painting with transparent, opaque, and metallic fabric paints, creating original rubber stamps using materials found at the hardware store, rust dyeing, Tyvek®, Angelina fibers, Shiva Paint Sticks, Foiling, Thermofax screen printing, resist techniques, and gelatin plate printing. Participants begin with basic foundation techniques, adding additional layers of surface design in subsequent work sessions to create unique fabrics. You will leave this event with a generous collection of one-of-a-kind fabrics and a toolbox full of new techniques and supplies. This workshop provides an emphasis on non-toxic materials which can be safely used at home.
The number of participants will be limited, providing for a personalized, intensive creative experience. |
Location: The retreat will be held at the St. Charles home in the pine covered hills among sandstone cliffs on the outskirts of Billings, Montana. Enjoy a catered lunch buffet on the veranda (weather permitting), or spacious dining room. Relax at the end of each work day with a glass of wine or cup of tea.
Participants may stay at the Holiday Inn Express, just 1.5 miles from the St. Charles home. We can meet your flight, and provide daily transportation between the hotel and the retreat center as needed. Continental breakfast at hotel.
