Rise of the Phoenix by Cynthia St Charles Not for sale "Rise of the Phoenix" was inspired by the mythical bird considered representative of the sun. This piece provided an opportunity to explore the use of Tyvek® and Angelina®fibers along with my own hand dyed fabrics. The bird figure was painted on Tyvek® which was stitched in place with machine quilting. Once all the machine quilting was complete, the entire piece was ironed, creating added texture and dimension when the Tyvek melted from the heat of the iron. Additional detail:
