Artquilts in the Discharge Dyed Gallery: Leftovers Mammograms from A to DD - Breast Cancer Survivors |
Leftovers by Cynthia St Charles Price: $2,000 "Leftovers" came together while I was tidying up my studio one day. I kept coming across savored bits of rust dyed, discharged, and stamped fabrics that I had been saving for ... something undetermined.... I started sewing the pieces together because that was far more interesting that cleaning up. All surface design fabrics were created by the artist. The rust section was dyed using concrete ties left over from the construction of our new workshop. Discharge pieces include pole wrapped shibori, folded and dipped squares, and folded fabric that was clamped and held in place with two round jar lids during discharge. The circular metallic stamping was done using soup bones. The handmade stamp was cut from a rubber plumbing gasket. Additional detail:
