Fluorine Fluke by Cynthia St Charles
From the Hand Painted Gallery
Size in inches: 36 x 37

Price: $1,750

This piece was created for the "Yellow Challenge". Participants were to create a small quilt at least 25% yellow, and to give it a title containing some variation of the color. Fluorine is a greenish yellow chemical element found in most fluoride compounds. A very similar shade of yellow was identified as Fluorine on a paint sample from a local paint store!

This whole cloth quilt began as a plain white piece of muslin. It was laid over a grid and painted in a spiral with yellow, red, and blue fabric paints. Embellishments include metallic variegated thread, bobbin pulling, and hundreds of hand sewn glass beads.
