Years ago, I was deeply inspired by an encounter with a wild horse herd in the Devil's Canyon area of Bighorn National Recreation area. Several years later, I visited Painted Desert National Park, where I had an opportunity to view a group of well preserved petroglyphs. My photograph of those petroglyphs was converted to a screen print, and printed onto a large multi-colored hand dyed cotton, which became the background for the wild horse herd.
