Glue Gel Resist and Block Printing Workshop |
Two days of intensive study with Cynthia in Billings, Montana. This workshop will focus on the use of Elmer’s Glue Gel as a resist for the creation of complex cloth as well as whole cloth art quilts – as featured in Quilting Arts Magazine February / March 2009 Issue. Block Printing using hardware store supplies, as featured in Quilting Arts Magazine April / May 2009, will be used to further enhance your unique designs in cloth. The elements of design and intuitive creative process will be an integral part of the workshop. Painting with non-toxic acrylic fabric paints. Participants will leave with several small works in progress. |

Environmentally Friendly Surface Design Workshop |
Three days of intensive hands-on experience with a broad range of surface design techniques including fabric painting with transparent, opaque, and metallic fabric paints, creating original rubber stamps using materials found at the hardware store, rust dyeing, Tyvek®, Angelina fibers, Shiva Paint Sticks, Foiling, Thermofax screen printing, resist techniques, and gelatin plate printing. Participants begin with basic foundation techniques, adding additional layers of surface design in subsequent work sessions to create unique fabrics. You will leave this event with a generous collection of one-of-a-kind fabrics and a toolbox full of new techniques and supplies. This workshop provides an emphasis on non-toxic materials which can be safely used at home. The number of participants will be limited, providing for a personalized, intensive creative experience. |

This one day workshop will take place at Cynthia’s art gallery in Billings, Montana. Participants will create one of a kind fabrics using hand cut printing blocks with non-toxic acrylic paints as featured in Quilting Arts Magazine. Participants will leave with 1 ½ yards of hand printed fabrics and their own hand cut printing blocks. |
